A Is For Alpha King

So the journey begins this time around with a mention from Z, at the Britton Tavern off 37 in Fishers, of how we should get back to doing the AlphaBeer thing when we get together. Memories arise from the last time we did this a few years ago and ventured into Three Floyd's Gumball (G), ESB (E), and the monk...or whatever the character is on the label of Franziskaner (F). We made it to the letter Q and the idea fizzled. With my brother in tow, it seemed like a good idea to start all over again.

We looked at the beer menu to see what they had. We started with Amstel Light last time we ventured into this so we felt like starting off fresh. The option the three of us agreed on was Alpha King, a beer they had on tap. Alpha King is another selection from Three Floyd's brewing company in Munster Indiana, which me and Z are familiar with from our "Gumball" experience watching Wimbledon tennis in 90 degree heat at a bar in Broad Ripple a few years ago.

Texting the world about Alpha King
Don't know if was because it was all of our second beers of the early afternoon but after the first drink it was bit harsh. Probably from getting used to the hop count going up by a million from our Newcastles and Blue Moons we were drinking first. It was a bitter pint to put down but nonetheless it began this wave of A To Z. The waitress was talking about IPAs which pretty much fell on deaf ears. Maybe our taste in Beer is bad....but we don't care. We're not in it for beer tasting, we're in to get from letter A to Z.

It may not have been the best starting beer (The Amstel started to sound good after a few sips) but it went down. It is beer. The letter B will be up next.

The Letter A: Alpha King
Brewed By: Three Floyd's Brewing Company
Located: Munster, Indiana

Beer Scale: (Scale Of 1 to 10)
JHO: 5...I've had much better beers, like Old Style for instance, but not terrible.
Z: 4...This beer was hard to suck down but unfair to give it a super low ranking. I believe it was good for what it was supposed to be.
Adzilla: 6...The overall taste wasn't bad and the first impression when taking a drink was that it would be a good beer and then the aftertaste kicked in and made me want to cry.
Average Score: 5.0
